There was some back and forth which I was happy to comply as they made contact with the property to make sure they did it with permissions in place. Here is before and after. We live a distance but I am planning to try to see it in person and hope it looks like the picture. We have a family plot next to it that’s much older that looks amazing. Now I won’t be as sad looking at it. We started with a one time service but are discussing more frequent upkeep in the future.”

How do you get mower tire marks off the flat marker?

We can remove those black streaks easily. Our Wells technicians use a non-acidic solvent to cut through the rubber, then fix the foundation so the mower blades stop hitting the granite.

Can I just power wash the lichen off the granite in Wells?

We strictly prohibit power washing. It blasts water deep into the rock. When the Maine winter hits, that trapped water freezes and shatters the monument.

The white marble marker feels like loose sand and the name is disappearing.

If you scrub that stone, the lettering will wipe right off. We treat fragile marble in Wells with a chemical hardener that locks the decaying crystals back together.

There are brown stains bleeding down from the pine needles on the base.

Wet needles release concentrated tannic acid. Soap won't touch it. We trowel a heavy chemical poultice over the stains to pull the brown organic pigment straight out of the pores.
