Highway Exhaust Grease
Hurst is boxed in by Loop 820 and SH 183. Traffic never stops.
Exhaust creates a heavy, oily glaze on the monuments. Rain sits on top of the oil layer; it doesn't wash anything. Standard soap won't dissolve this road film. It needs chemical stripping.
We use an industrial degreaser for grave site cleaning services. We strip the oily buildup chemically so the stone shines again.
Clay Soil Heaving
The clay in the Mid-Cities is aggressive. It exerts massive pressure. It snaps unreinforced concrete easily.
In summer, the soil pulls away from the concrete. The foundation is left hanging over empty space. When the weight shifts, the footer breaks.
For tombstone repair and restoration, we ignore the shifting topsoil. We anchor the foundation deep into the stable subsoil.
Post Oak Acid Burns
Hurst is full of old Post Oak trees. Wet leaves stick to the granite and bleed tannic acid.
This acid dyes the stone a deep brown. The stain soaks into the pore structure. Scrubbing the surface does nothing. It looks like a permanent shadow.

Commercial Grit
With North East Mall and road work nearby, the air is full of grit.
That dust settles on the polish. If you try to wipe it off with a dry cloth, you are rubbing rock against rock. It scratches the mirror finish immediately.
We use a high-volume water flush for cleaning stone gravestones. We float the grit off safely to preserve the shine.
Fire Ant Acid
Fire ants build mounds against the warm stone bases.
The dirt is acidic. It burns the polish, leaving a rough, dull ring. You cannot wash this damage off. We treat the ground and neutralize the acid to stop the burn.
